Get some spectacular birds-eye shots of the incredible scenery at Cedar Breaks National Monument. The park sits at the top of the illustrious Grand Staircase, extending 100 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park to the Grand Canyon. From an elevation of 10,000 feet, you can look down into a half-mile-deep geologic amphitheater. Hiking trails pass through lush forests and meadows full of native wildflowers. Leashed pets are welcome on all paved areas, including the two-mile Sunset Trail. Cedar Breaks is open year-round, although accessibility varies by season, so check the website. The entry fee is $10 per person.

Mother Nature sculpts rocks into an endlessly fascinating variety of shapes, sizes, and textures. Three Peaks Recreation Area is known for the volcanic rock formations that cover the sprawling 7,000-acre grounds. In addition to serving as great photo subjects, the rock formations are an entertaining natural jungle gym for kids. The rough-and-tumble terrain also makes Three Peaks a popular spot for OHV and ATV riding. Three Peaks Recreation Area is open seven days a week.

Woods Ranch Park - UT-14, Cedar City, UT 84720
While Woods Ranch Park is only minutes from Cedar City, you'll feel like you're light-years away. The everyday world quickly melts away as you walk through the park, surrounded by aspen and pine trees and breathing the refreshing mountain air. For a different perspective, visit Woods Ranch at night and take in a breathtaking view of the star-studded sky. The park also features a trailhead for the 32-mile Virgin River Rim Trail. This pet-friendly trail is open for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Woods Ranch Park is open 24/7, year-round.

Veterans Park - 200 N. 200th E., Cedar City, UT 84720
Established in 2006, Veterans Park is a wonderful place to enjoy nature and pay tribute to the men and women who served to preserve these freedoms. The park features monuments to the veterans of all major conflicts, from World War I to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan. After viewing the monuments, take a walk along the adjacent Coal Creek Trail, a pet-friendly, 3.3-mile paved trail that's suitable for kids. There are several benches along the route where you can stop for a break to admire the scenery. Park hours are 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily.
